About the Event
Join AppSciComm in Columbus for a tour of Ohio State’s Orton Geological Museum! One of the oldest and most distinctive buildings on campus, Orton Hall houses dinosaur and giant sloth skeletons, a T. rex skull, and geologic samples from around the globe (and beyond).
Museum director Loren Babcock will take the group on a tour of the public museum, as well as give us a behind the scenes look at exhibit prep and specimen storage. If weather allows, we’ll follow the tour with an outdoor lunch, either at University Square where nearby restaurants include salads, burgers, tacos and hot chicken, or on the Oval pending the food truck schedule for the day.
Due to the size of the museum space, this event is limited to 12 people - if registration is closed, please contact Christina Dierkes with your email and cell phone number to be contacted if spots open up.
Parking, accessibility and other visit information is available on the Orton Museum website: https://ortongeologicalmuseum.osu.edu/visit-its-free/visit-museum.
Cost: a requested $10 donation, split evenly between AppSciComm and the Orton Museum.
