About the Event

Join Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Land Stewardship staff on a moderate (2- to 3-mile) hike to explore Bear Run Nature Reserve (near Ohiopyle, Pa., and Morgantown, W.V.). Along the way, learn about efforts to restore native forest, control exotic invasive species, maintain the extensive trail system, and other management activities.

Meet at the Bear Run main parking here at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, for a hike to last about 3 hours. In the afternoon, attendees can either explore Bear Run on their own, or drive about a mile down Mill Run Road to check out the WPC’s Fallingwater museum!

Meet our guides:

Andy Zadnik has directed the Conservancy’s land stewardship program for 14 years. His responsibilities include overseeing the monitoring of lands protected by conservation easement as well as managing WPC preserves throughout Western Pennsylvania. Andy has a background in fisheries and wildlife resources.

Zack Zelazny, having served as an Americorps member at Bear Run for the last two years, is the newest addition to the Stewardship team. With his Park Ranger background, he shares his love of the outdoors with volunteers and visitors to WPC’s preserves.
