About the Event

The Appalachian region is one of the most beautiful and biodiverse places on the planet. There are endless stories to tell about the people and creatures that call this place home. This talk will focus on tips for crafting an engaging science story, with a focus on nature in Appalachia. We'll also chat about how a freelance career can provide the freedom and flexibility to explore the ideas that interest you most.

Nikki Forrester is a freelance science journalist based in the mountains of West Virginia. She loves writing about ecology, conservation, and the culture of science. She also publishes an independent outdoor magazine called Highland Outdoors.
