About the Event
Jon Cohen is a staff writer for Science magazine. He specializes in biomedicine, especially HIV/AIDS, other infectious diseases, immunology, vaccines, and global health. Cohen has also reported extensively on genetics, primate research, evolution, bioterrorism, research funding, ethics, reproductive biology, credit battles, and the media itself.
Cohen earned a BA in science writing from UCSD in 1981 and began writing for Science in 1990. He has also written for the New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, the New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, Technology Review, Outside, Slate, Wired, Surfer and many other publications. He has also published four nonfiction books on scientific topics.
