About the Event
The professional organization Appalachian Science Communicators (AppSciComm) is hosting a two-hour program and guided walk at Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Saturday, March 28, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT. A UT environmental soil scientist will discuss how trees and other native Tennessee plants sequester carbon to help offset the impact of carbon dioxide, an important greenhouse gas. The talk will be followed by a short, guided walk on the Ijams grounds to identify and discuss plants that store carbon. Admission is free, although participants are encouraged to make a voluntary donation to AppSciComm via PayPal at @AppSciComm. Parking is free for the first 25 vehicles, with $5 for all others.
