About the Event
Karen Weintraub is a health reporter for USA TODAY where she spent the last two-plus years covering the COVID-19 pandemic as well as other plagues (mostly monkeypox), cancer, rare diseases, organ transplantation and whatever else seems interesting. Before joining USA TODAY in May 2020, she spent a dozen years as a freelancer, writing regularly for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Scientific American and STAT, among other outlets. She also has taught journalism as an adjunct at MIT, Boston University and the Harvard Extension School since 2010. In May, she and her husband published a book, Born in Cambridge, about the history of innovation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they have lived since 2001.
